Parliament health committee supports draft resolution on dismissing Health Minister Kvitashvili

Health Minister Alexander Kvitashvili will carry out a reform that envisages changing the funding mechanism for hospitals, procuring drugs through international organizations and switching to electronic procurement.

The Verkhovna Rada health committee on July 2 endorsed draft resolution No. 2864 on the dismissal of Health Minister Alexander Kvitashvili.

Speaking at a meeting of the committee, MP Kostiantyn Yarynych (Petro Poroshenko Bloc) noted that it was necessary to hear a report by Kvitashvili to make the decision. His position was supported by MP Iryna Sysoyenko (Samopomich). Both deputies abstained from voting on the draft resolution.

Deputy head of the committee Oleh Musiy said that the committee’s decision does not mean that the minister will be dismissed, but that the issue would be submitted to the parliament for consideration.

As reported, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction has initiated the dismissal of the Health Ministry leadership.
