The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has rejected a bill of amendments to the Ukrainian law on the social protection of children born in times of war concerning the introduction of an increase in the size of the pension for this category of Ukrainian citizen.

A total of 84 MPs out of the 347 registered in the session hall on Wednesday voted for the bill at first reading.

The bill, authored by BYT-Batkivschyna MP Andriy Senchenko, proposed introducing an increase in pensions or monthly payments for life at 30% of the living wage for those who have lost their ability to work.
