Public Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv region is conducting a pretrial investigation in the criminal proceedings against abuse of office by the former head of Kyiv Regional Administration, which resulted in the embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the reconstruction of a street in one of the district centers of the region.

“During the investigation it was established that the former head of the regional administration ordered the State Service of Automobile Roads of Ukraine to buy works on the reconstruction of a road worth Hr 36.5 million from a private company in 2011. The contractor selected without holding a tender sent a part of budget funds to accounts of companies with signs of artificial companies,” the press service of Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine reported on March 4.

Public Prosecutor’s Office suspects the former head and officials of Kyiv Regional Administration, the State Service of Automobile Roads and the constructor of crimes foreseen in Article 191 (embezzlement of funds via abuse of office) and Article 364 (abuse of power or abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pretrial investigation is underway.
