You're reading: Police: One more Lenin statue broken in Odesa region

Odesa, January 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A statue of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin that had stood in a village in Odesa region broke in two as someone knocked it off its pedestal on Friday night, the regional police authority said, on Saturday, January 4. 

Police launched an investigation into the incident based on a Criminal Code
article entitled “Destruction of, or Damage to, Monuments of History or
Culture,” the authority said in a statement. The incident occurred in
Andriyevo-Ivanove village, Mykolayiv district.

In a similar incident in Odesa region late on December 8, a statue of Lenin
in front of a railroad workers’ club in a park in the town of Kotovsk was pushed
off its pedestal and broke into several pieces.
