You're reading: Police say they identified instigators of clashes

The Interior Ministry said they identified at some of the instigators of clashes that took place in front of the president's administration and other government buildings, the ministry said in a statement.

“Unlawful
actions in front of the Cabinet building were organized with an
active participation of about 100 citizens, whose actions were
coordinated by a citizen named Andriy Feshchuk,” the police said in
the statement.

Andriy
Feshchuk, an activist of Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform
(UDAR), however, denied accusations in a telephone interview with
Hromadske.tv. He said he spent his day on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, where
crowds of several hundred thousand rallied.

“I
don’t know where they get this absurd information,” says Feshchuk.
“They are just trying to find someone to blame for today’s
provocations” to justify the violent actions that will follow.

The
police said they also identified over 300 radical youths, members of
Bratstvo organization, who acted under the guidance of Dmytro
Korchynskiy. He could not be reached for comment immediately.

The
police also said that the attack on the City Hall was “accompanied”
by Ihor Myroshnychenko, a Svoboda parliament member.

Yuriy
Syrotiuk, the spokesman for Svoboda party, said that the accusation
was absurd.

“A
people’s deputy has access to any building, regardless of form of
ownership. Aa deputy cannot attack anything -apriori. A legitimate
session of the Kyiv community is taking place in the city hall at the
moment, in the absence of legitimate mayor and legitimate city
council,” he said.

Svoboda
earlier had claimed that they took over two government buildings, the
City Hall and the Trade Unions building. They still remain under
control of the protesters.
