You're reading: Popov doesn’t know where Chernovetsky is, city running well without mayor

Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said he does not know the reason why Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky has been absent from his workplace for a lengthy period of time.

"We have two legal entities – Kyiv City State Administration and Kyiv City Council. This question should be put to the city council," he told reporters on Monday, when asked about the reason for Chernovetsky’s absence from his workplace.

"I don’t know where he is, in which country. He is the city mayor. He has to be responsible for his actions, and I am responsible for my actions and my duties," Popov said.

"If you have questions for the city mayor, please, ask him. As far as I know, he will be at his workplace at Kyiv City State Administration soon," he added.

Popov said the absence of Chernovetsky at his workplace wasn’t influencing the activity of Kyiv City State Administration.

"Actually, we have different functions, and I don’t think it has any influence. All approved resolutions of Kyiv City Council are signed, and we have no conflicts due to his absence at the moment," Popov said.
