President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation asked Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon to facilitate a solution to the situation with Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko kidnapped and detained by Russia.

“Petro Poroshenko urged UN Secretary General to take measures to release Nadia Savchenko, whose mother and lawyers are in New York at the moment The Ukrainian president also said that all hostages kept in Donbas must be liberated,” the presidential press service said.

Petro Poroshenko and Ban Ki-moon have discussed the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and the international efforts for the restoration of peace in Donbas.

The UN chief has praised the role of the Ukrainian leader in ensuring the peace process in Donbas, as well as the devotion of Ukraine to the Minsk agreements.

At the same time, he has expressed concern over the violation of ceasefire and other items of these documents.
