Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and President of the European Council Donald Tusk discussed the situation in Ukraine's south-eastern regions in a phone call on March 3.

“At the same time, he reiterated that an uninterrupted and comprehensive ceasefire on the part of the militants and the complete withdrawal of heavy weaponry by them under OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) monitoring and verification has not been achieved. Poroshenko called on the EU not to be prematurely optimistic and continue its policy of influence on the signatories to the Minsk agreements in order to prompt them to fulfill all of their obligations,” the Ukrainian leader’s press service said.

Poroshenko thanked Tusk for attending the Dignity March, which took place in Kyiv on Feb. 22 and became a symbol of EU support for Ukraine, the press service said.

“In response, Tusk reaffirmed the enormous importance of this event for the EU and him personally,” the press service said.

Poroshenko also informed Tusk of the results of the latest phone call between the Normandy Quartet leaders.
