Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that he has decided to appoint Major General Mykhailo Koval as deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

“I have decided to appoint him deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council,” he said in parliament on Thursday, July 3.

Poroshenko thanked Koval for his work as acting Ukrainian defense minister, “who in the most difficult times assumed responsibility and did everything he could to recreate the army.”

He also said that Yuriy Kosiuk would be appointed first deputy head of the presidential administration.
