The visit of European leaders to Ukraine on Feb. 22 to attend mourning rallies and to honor the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes illustrates that Europe's doors are open for Ukraine, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“On Feb. 22, due to my invitation, your invitation, Ukrainian people’s invitation, European leaders, European presidents, prime ministers, representatives of EU authorities will come here [to Kyiv]. [They] will come to this holy place to honor the people’s feat, pay tribute to the memory of Ukrainian heroes, but it’s not the only reason. They are coming to emphasize, with their presence, that EU doors are open for Ukraine,” Poroshenko said at a memorial rally in honor of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv on Feb. 20.

As reported, Ukraine will mourn the Heavenly Hundred Heroes through Feb. 17-24.

According to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, up to ten leaders of foreign states are expected to attend the Memorial March on Feb. 22. Seven heads of states and governments have already confirmed their participation. These include the presidents of Poland, Lithuania, Georgia and European Council.
