Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko expects all branches of the authorities to take decisive steps in the fight against corruption in the country.

“As I said, from the Verkhovna Rada I expect the law to abolish the right of bail for corruption offenses and the law on the National Bureau of Investigation,” Poroshenko said during a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Council under the president of Ukraine in Kyiv on Oct. 6.

In addition, the president expects the Cabinet of Ministers to launch the National Agency for Fight against Corruption.

Poroshenko expects the Prosecutor General’s Office to reform and renew its staff from to bottom.

“From the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) I expect the intensification of the fight against corruption and the destruction of the economic foundation for its existence,” he said.

Poroshenko also expects that the leadership of the national police will be formed soon, and he urged the National Anti-Corruption Bureau to hold real inquiries into corruption.
