Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says he hopes Ukraine, Russia, and the European Union will sign agreements on gas following tripartite consultations in the near future.

“We have agreed to pursue a joint and coordinated policy on energy issues, and I think tripartite consultations will be held in the near future. The first of these are already taking place in Vienna today, and this should eventually end up with the signing of a protocol similar to the winter protocol for 2014-2015, which would ensure Europe and Ukraine’s energy security,” Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels.
