President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and a delegation of the European Parliament, led by Head of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok, during a meeting in Kyiv on Friday have acknowledged a necessity to leave sanctions imposed on Russia, or even tougher them if the situation on the ground worsens, until Minsk deals implemented to the very end and territorial integrity of Ukraine being restored.

“Members of the European Parliament expressed a deep concern over continuing violations of the human rights on temporary occupied territories of Donbas and in Crimea, along with a conscious neglecting by Russian side of the calls of the international society to free citizens of Ukraine, who are illegally detained on the Russian territory, namely Nadia Savchenko, Oleh Sentsov and others,” reads the president’s official website.

Ukrainian leader and European parliamentarians exchanged views on how to improve a humanitarian situation in Donbas.

In addition, the foreign chiefs said they are in favor of an initiative of Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine on establishing an international tribunal to probe the MH17 plan crash outside Donetsk in Ukraine in July 2014.
