Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has approved the decree No. 238/2015 date April 23, 2015 on the Ukraine-NATO national yearlong cooperation program for 2015, president's press service reported on April 23.

“To ensure the execution of priority tasks for the development of the strategic partnership of Ukraine and the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization, to execute decision made during meetings of Ukraine-NATO Commission (December 3, 2008 in Brussels, Belgium) and Ukraine-NATO Commission [meetings] on the level of head of states and governments (Sept. 4, 2014 in Newport, UK), and in accordance with points one, three and 17 of Part 1 Article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine, [I] order

“To approve Ukraine-NATO national yearlong cooperation program for 2015 (hereinafter referred to as national yearlong program), as per the attached [documents],” reads the statement.

According to the decree posted on the president’s website, Ukraine’s priority interest in the foreign policy sector is the development and further extension of strategic partnership between Ukraine and NATO.

According to the press service, this program is of particular importance in ensuring the protection of Ukraine’s national interests and security under the conditions of Russia aggression in eastern Ukraine. The press service also noted that cooperation with NATO is an essential part of the European integration course.

The decree reads that the program execution won’t need any additional funds from the state budget of Ukraine, as it would be carried out within budget allocations foreseen by the central executive government agency, by another government agency for the corresponding year and at the cost of financial aid from NATO budget and its certain members.
