Independent MP Petro Poroshenko says he supports the signing of the agreement on the completion of the fulfillment by Ukraine its duties on the first stage of the non-visa regime.

“I would be very glad if additionally to signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine-EU we sign another document, which doesn’t has a direct relation to it [to the Association Agreement] – this is the agreement on the completion of Ukraine’s implementation of its duties at the first stage of visa-free travel. This will give us real opportunities to have a visa-free regime in 2014,” Poroshenko told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday.

He also said that the majority of his meetings with the representatives of the diplomatic corps of the EU countries was devoted to this very issue.

As the MP said, all EU member countries now support the European integration aspirations of Ukraine.

“If you ask me whether there are countries that now in public express doubts or disagreements on the signing of the Association Agreement, I’m stating with complete responsibility: there is no such country now… We have the guaranteed support of all 28 EU member countries,” he said.

Asked to comment on a statement by Russian Presidential Advisor Sergei Glazyev that if Ukraine signs the Association Agreement, Russia could introduce a visa regime with Ukraine, the MP said: “Ukraine treats Russia as a brotherly strategic partner. If Russia acts in the same to us, we won’t provoke problems of such character.”
