A march of pro-Ukrainian activists ended without incident on Kulykove Field in downtown Odesa, the traditional site of demonstrations of their opponents – anti-Maidan activists.

An Interfax correspondent reported that the demonstrators hoisted the Ukrainian flag on a flagpole and observed a moment of silence for those killed on May 2.

From 500 to several thousand pro-Ukrainian activists gathered in the center of Odesa on May 4 night. Many of them were equipped for street clashes and carried clubs and pipes.

It was reported earlier that about a 1000 demonstrators stormed the Odesa city police building on May 4 and forced the police to free the people detained in mass disturbances on May 2. The police and the prosecution service accused each other of the decision to free the detainees.
