You're reading: Prosecutor’s office opens criminal case on events involving Tsariov in Kyiv on April 14

Kyiv Prosecutor's Office has opened criminal proceedings due to the events that took place with the participation of Ukrainian presidential candidate and MP Oleh Tsariov in Kyiv on April 14 during his visit to a television company, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Tuesday.

The criminal case was opened under Part 4, Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism).

As reported, Tsariov arrived at the ICTV channel on Monday to
participate in a television program, when a group of Maidan activists
came up to the channel building. At about 2:15 am, after a long period of
persuasion, the politician came out of the building and then passed
through “a corridor of shame” organized by participants in a rally. At
about 3 am, Tsariov was driven to an unknown location in a minibus and
then taken to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
