If you don't protect your national language, then assimilation will quickly follow. I would rather Ukrainian speak Ukrainian, not Russian...Russian is for Russians.

Why is there a push for Russian language in the Ukrainian government? It could be that Yanokovych has been taking language lessons from Putin!

That's a very antiquated view of the world. Still, why don't you follow your own ideology by example and quit speaking English, as it is clearly not your native tongue. English is for the English, so speak your own language!

Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 2:23 p.m.

You want me to resort to my own language? Okay, here goes... wait, I am still speaking English. 'IvanovPetrotrov' sounds like a typical Anglo-Saxon name, if I ever heard an English name. Sir, you are a misinformed idiot who doesn't a have a single clue as to what you are talking about. I would challenge you to a debate in English, but you are clearly using a spell checker.

I would challenge you to a debate in Russian but I could not compete since I don't speak your native tongue.

Quit being such a pinheaded, narrow-minded idiot and speak on a topic that you are familiar with, such as sorting out your own deluded thoughts.

Ready for round two? Comrade Petrov?

Clearly, there is no point in talking to you. You have neither charm nor sense of humour, not to mention intelligence. You are not English, and it is clear from your attitude and use of insults. Still, even if English is your native tongue (and it's a big IF), you have no legitimate right to claim anything in the Russian-Ukrainian debate as you speak neither. As such, your comments are irrelevant. A word of advice, as it happens, I don't use a spell-checker, but I would in your case. Don't be lazy!

I reply with insults, because you initiated with insults. Secondly I do speak English and nothing else.(Have you never been told off in English before?) Thirdly, I have every right to express my opinion because this is an opinion website, available 'globally'. WWW stands for 'World Wide Web'. I will voice my opinion as I see fit, especially when I see pro-Russian drivel posted by people such as yourself.

Until Yanukovych closes down this paper, I will speak my mind. get used to it.

Round Three?

More like I hit a defective mouse key that causes repeated postings, but please feel free to take credit for it if your arrogance dictates.

So Mr. "I hit a nerve", are you ready to debate or cower behind your paltry insults?

Becuase Putin paid for Yanukovych to win in 2010 election & one of the conditions was Crimea and the Russian navy & the Russian Language and lock up Yulia.....

Where do you think Yanukovych will run after he is kicked from power .................to Russia....he and his circle of Billionaire Gas directors will run to Russia and there they can speak RUSSIAN...Ukraine if for UKRAINE.....Yanukovych should ask Putin to Apoligise for 1935 famine in Ukraine but he doesnt care about that..he is only a PUPPET

Do you actually think before you say something? You make a lot of unsubstantiated, hysterical claims, which shows your irresponsibility, arrogance, ignorance, prejudice and plain stupidity. I am sorry, but people like you make me want to puke. Thank God, most Ukrainians don't share your absurd views!

Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 2:33 p.m.

IvanovPetrovSidorov, are you capable of actually having an informed argument without insulting the person you should be debating with?? Yes you do have good English training, but you have the debating skills of a hermit. Name calling doesn't convince anyone.

IvanovPetrovSidorov July 20, 2012, 4:18 p.m.

There is no arguing with stuck up bigots like you.

{# <-- parent id goes here
Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 4:34 p.m.

Are you familiar with the term 'bigot'? You are the one accusing me of being a not speaking English, (your first faux pas) and here you just insulted another poster, simply because he does not meet your standard of grammatical excellence. (And yes, I am lazy, but apparently you undertood me when I return the insult!) Yet, you don't seem to have the mental capacity to come up with a good rebuttal. Can you form a good opinion, instead of insulting everyone by of calling them an idiot???

You call me non-English? I call you Comrade!! Touche.

{# <-- parent id goes here
IvanovPetrovSidorov July 20, 2012, 5:38 p.m.

You don't make sense. Your logic sucks. You probably think that irony has something to do with iron. How old are you? 15? Go back to school and learn how to spell for starters, will you matie. And yes, you are 110%NOT English. It's easy to sAss out. LOL

{# <-- parent id goes here
Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 6:17 p.m.

Once again, I ask you for a debate and your only retort is to belittle those who challenge you!!! I bet you can't even form a debate on language laws in Ukraine! Come on, Comrade, tell us your opinion (without the arrogant condescending, if you are able. btw that means not name calling.)

I oppose the Russian language integration into the sovereign government of Ukraine! What is your opinion???

{# <-- parent id goes here
Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 6:21 p.m.

"You don't make sense. Your logic sucks. You are only 15. You don't speak English."

Again you proved without evidence or credibility when replying.

By the way, its not irony, its sarcasm. But your TESOL classes probably haven't covered that class yet.

I find this all rather amusing. I feel you have a certain degree (which is probably the only degree you have) of Canadian obnoxiousness and obsessive resentment about you. Have long years of living in the tundra frozen your brains or are you really that thick?

{# <-- parent id goes here
Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 8:10 p.m.

Of course you find this amusing, as only a simpleton enjoys being repeatly shown to be ignorant on many topics in a public forum.

{# <-- parent id goes here
Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 8:11 p.m.

I love exposing the ignorance of such quasi-intellectuals, such as yourself, merely by having you reply to my challenges for a topical debate on language laws. During your previous seven posting you have not once offered an intellectual response. All I ask for is a discussion on the topic of this room. Yet, respond with infantile name calling, racism, etc.

Oh well, I may as well point out another fact you missed. Russia has 2.5 times the land mass of Canada, including Tundra. Thereby demostrating your geographical ignorance as well. Do you know what languages are spoken in Canada? "English" & "French"! Thus, again proving you are wrong with your first prediction that I don't speak English. But once again, your ignorance is abundant. Do you have any more predictions about where I live?

Close you mouth, open your mind and quit spewing childish rants, unless you feel you are smart enough to debate me...I am still waiting, but you need to learn to keep it on topic!!!

Frederick Sass July 20, 2012, 8:22 p.m.

By the way, Moscow is 55 degrees north, however, Ottawa is only 45 degrees north. Thus you further north than I!!
Any other ignorant facts you wish to declare??

Gee ?

Actually !

In 2005, many of the Moskali in Ukraine ran to Moscow {AKA - Muscovy} for sanctuary.

Unfortunately !

When Yanukovych became Prime Minister again, the rats returned to Ukraine from Moscow - to continue to create many of the problems happening in Ukraine today.

I regret the typo :

When Yanukovych The Zek became Prime Minister again, the savage uncivilized pagan barbarians from the Kremlin returned to Ukraine from Moscow - to continue to create many of the problems happening in Ukraine today.
