Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valentyn Nalyvaichenko has said that Russian presidential advisor Vladislav Surkov resided with then SBU chief, Oleksandr Yakymenko, at an SBU office on Feb. 20-21, 2014, and had connections to the previous government.

“We are convinced that it is necessary to investigate not only the crimes committed by Ukrainian officials, but also the involvement of Russian high-ranking officials in the persecution of protestors. I can confirm that we already have prepared relevant materials, and our investigators want to stress the fact that Mr. Surkov visited Ukraine on Feb. 20-21 for a reason. At the moment, investigators are trying to establish why on Feb. 20-21 he resided with Mr. Yakymenko, the former SBU head, at one of the SBU offices… enjoyed government connections and visited the presidential administration,” Nalyvaichenko said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on the fight against corruption on April 15.
