You're reading: Right Sector claims to have hidden fellow members wanted for Mukacheve shootout

The members of the Right Sector who were involved in the events in Mukacheve, are securely hidden and their whereabouts will not be disclosed, says Oleksiy Byk, a spokesman for the 13th Right Sector battalion.

“With regard to our boys who participated in the Mukacheve events: they are in a safe place. Everything is alright with them. Their life is in danger, so any information on this matter could cause them harm, we are not disclosing it,” Byk said on the 112 Ukraine television on Aug. 1 evening.

It was reported that a skirmish occurred on July 11 involving people close to parliamentarian Mykhailo Lanio, local police and several Right Sector members. According to various reports, two or three people were killed and up to 14 injured in the incident.

According to the Interior Ministry, about ten Right Sector fighters had previously been hiding the wooded area around Mukacheve, two were hospitalized. On July 16 the Ukrainian Security Service announced the arrest of some of the people who were involved in the events, and that six armed RS members had yet to be found in the Mukacheve district.
