Russia has called on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to publicly condemn the Ukrainian authorities' decision to use violence against people in the country's southeast, Moscow's UN Ambassador Vitali Churkin has said.

“I have called the UN secretary general and suggested that he make a public statement that would condemn the use of military force against the political opposition in the country. I hope that he [the UN secretary general] will do it,” Churkin said during a special issue of the “Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov” television program late on Thursday.
