You're reading: Seizure of police stations in Lviv continues

Several hundred rioters have seized the building of the Lviv city police department, an eye-witness has told an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent.

“Windows have been broken the same as the front door. The gatehouse
is looted. Part of the premises is filled with water,” the eyewitness
said.

After seizing and looting the building the rioters rushed to a
neighboring street through a different exit. After that the staff of the
police department started removing of with documents and remaining
office equipment from the building.

In addition, some 100 people have seized the building of Lychakiv
district police. The front doors to the building are broken and windows
smashed. Car tires have been set on fire at the entrance.

On Tuesday evening and night protesters seized the buildings of the
Lviv city administration, the local departments of the police, Ukrainian
Security Service and the Revenues’ Ministry and several police
stations.

They also seized and set on fire buildings of a unit of Interior
Troops after which they sent all the gear – shields and helmets – to the
Maidan and let the servicemen go.

According to the mayor of Lviv, arms were stolen during the protest
actions from the police stations. Some 30 people were injured in the
rioting.
