KYIV - A Ukrainian parliamentarian from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Valeriy Patskan, said that while there was no talk of a merger between the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Solidarity Party and the People's Front, the two political forces are negotiating their candidates in local elections due on October 25.

“We are in talks with the People’s Front […] If there are strong candidates representing the People’s Front, who are ready to fight [at the elections], together with them we will agree on the constituencies so as not to support the candidates who are not from our team. But there is no talk of a merger of the two political forces,” Patskan told reporters before the 12th extraordinary congress of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Solidarity Party in Kyiv on Friday.

The People’s Front is led by Ukraine’s current Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

It was reported that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Friday is planning to attend a joint congress of his and the UDAR parties where the two political forces could take a decision on their merger.
