You're reading: Thousands gather in Kharkiv to pray for united Ukraine

 A rally titled "With prayer for Ukraine" is taking place in Constitution Square in Kharkiv. Several thousand people have gathered and more are coming, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent said. The rally began with the performance of the Ukrainian national anthem.

 The prayer for peace and unity of the country is alternately conducted by members of all faiths existing in Kharkiv, including the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, the Roman Catholic Church, the Armenian Apostolic Church, a Muslim cleric and others.

Public order during the prayer service is provided by 250 policemen and representatives from various public groups, according to a spokesperson for the Kharkiv regional police.
