Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov met with Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine Doug Trappett on Sept. 2 to discuss the ongoing developments in eastern Ukraine as well as the course of the investigation into the MH17 disaster in Donbas last year.

“In this context the parties agreed that Russia’s veto of setting up an international tribunal over the downed Boeing [Malaysian Airlines flight] MH17 is ‘direct pleading by Russia of its guilt,” the NSDC’s press service reported.

During the meeting, Turchynov stressed that “Ukraine is prepared for any cooperation in the investigation of [what caused the] downing of the Malaysian Boeing [flight MH17] for all perpetrators to be brought to account.”

In turn, Trappett said that Australia would help Ukraine “to fight Russia aggression against Ukraine” by all possible means.
