You're reading: Turchynov: Russia’s actions completely cross Geneva agreements on Ukraine

Russia's actions have crossed completely the agreements reached in Geneva on April 17, Verkhovna Rada Chairman, acting Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov said during a meeting with U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Forces Head Carl Levin on April 24. Turchynov notes that Russia's stance is a challenge to not just Ukraine but entire civilized world, the presidential press office said. "We will resist these actions and will defend our people… Hundred thousands Ukrainians are ready to defend their country," he said.

The U.S. people support actions of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at unity and territorial integrity of the country, Levin said. A solution will be found to resist aggressive plans of Russia, he said.

Turchynov said earlier on April 23 he urged Russia to withdraw troops from the border in response to the statement of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu that due to the situation escalation in southeastern Ukraine drills of the Southern and Western Military Districts’ battalion tactic groups has begun.
