Militants shelled a Ukrainian checkpoint near the village of Rodyna in Luhansk region several times on May 28, no Ukrainian troops were injured, but several shells hit the village and wounded two local residents.

This is the only one checkpoint between Ukrainian government-controlled areas and areas of Luhansk occupied by the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), according to the press service of Hennadiy Moskal, who heads the Kyiv appointed military-civilian administration of Luhansk region.

“No injuries to Ukrainian military were recorded, but during one shelling with grenade machine gun, several grenades exploded in the settlement near Rodyna village not reaching the checkpoint. It is a part of a settlement that is controlled by so-called LPR. The grenades exploded in the moment when local residents were in the yard. Two of them have shrapnel wounds,” he said.

A male pensioner was lightly wounded, the other individual was injured seriously and was subsequently taken to a hospital on Ukrainian controlled territory.
