EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko have discussed EU financial support to Ukraine and the formation of a new Ukrainian government.

The Batkivschyna party press service said the meeting was held on Tuesday.

“The sides discussed the Ukrainian situation and exchanged opinions
about ways out of the crisis. They touched upon the first steps Ukraine
and the EU needed to take towards stabilization and restoration of
Ukraine’s European course. An EU financial and economic support package
was a separate item on the agenda; a decision regarding it may be made
quickly and Ukraine will be able to recover from the biggest economic
crisis in its history,” the report said.

Tymoshenko and Ashton spoke about the formation of a new government
and stressed that, in their opinion,” this government should incorporate
Maidan representatives and specialists – technocrats, which will ensure
maximum coordination and efficiency of work under extreme conditions,”
it said.
