You're reading: UEFA: Olympiysky stadium has passed first test

The European football union has no serious objections to the Olympiysky National Sports Complex, which was officially opened on October 8, Head of the Euro 2012 Local Organizing Committee in Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky has said.

The Ukraine 2012 Information Center quoted Lubkivsky as saying that the reconstructed sports arena had been opened safely, therefore, it is possible to say the stadium has passed the first test in the organization of mass events.

"The first impression is that the stadium received its guests with dignity, but, of course, a detailed analysis will be conducted after the event as to how all of the services worked, how the transport logistics operated, and how large groups of people moved around," Lubkivsky said, adding that a friendly match between Ukraine and Germany will be held at the stadium on November 11.

"This experience should definitely be taken into account during the organization of future events. The management of the stadium is working on this, and we are analyzing this. But we can already say that the organization of the [event] was good. The most important thing for any event related to the presence of the large number of people is to ensure that the [event] occurs without any incidents and emergencies, so that all remain alive, healthy and happy. The organization of security under present conditions is the number one issue. And the opening day was the most important test event in the life of the reconstructed stadium. From this point of view, the stadium has passed a test. After that, it will already be easier to hold future events."

Lubkivsky said that the completion of the stadium project and its commissioning inspired confidence in the success of the coming Euro 2012 project.

"There’s no doubt that many issues have yet to be resolved in terms of the completion and management of the object. But the most important step has been taken," Lubkivsky said.
