You're reading: Ukraine calls for more witness testimony on MH17 disaster

Ukrainian officials have said that the evidence base in the international investigation into the July 2014 Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 disaster in Donbas requires more witness testimony.

At a briefing in Kyiv on March 30, a film by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine on the main theory into the cause of the disaster was shown.

“This video is now [being] screened by the investigation team in the Netherlands… The primary theory is that the plane was shot down by separatists in Donetsk region,” Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin said, adding that the plane was shown down by Russian Buk missile systems.

The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said in turn that witness testimony was of paramount importance.
