You're reading: Ukraine decides to reduce training period for officers

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said the training period for Ukrainian officers will be reduced because they are needed in the Armed Forces.

“There is only one reason for the decision to reduce the training period and early graduation of offices; you are very needed in the Ukrainian Armed Forces now,” he said at a graduation ceremony at Cherniakhovsky National Defense University on Feb. 27.

“These 12 months will go down in our history as the year of revival of the Ukrainian army. We have managed to rebuild combat potential and contain the aggression of a trained enemy, who is equipped with super-modern weapons,” Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko said the Ukrainian Armed Forces “stood the test” and proved that they are a reliable protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
