You're reading: Ukraine introduces customs declaration for goods from Crimea

Starting Sept. 27, Ukrainian Customs on the border with Russia in Crimea has introduced international border control.

“Starting from midnight Sept. 27, Ukrainian Customs has been operating on the border in the Kherson region and Crimea… in a mode corresponding to the functioning of international checkpoints. A relevant declaration is to be filed for the goods moving to and from Crimea. If they are moving to Crimea, it will be an export declaration as in the case of export in a free economic zone. If the goods are moving from Crimea, it will be a Ukrainian import declaration,” deputy chief of Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service (GFS) Anatoliy Makarenko told a press conference in Kyiv on Sept. 30.

Russia, too, is introducing customs declaration on the goods from Crimea from Oct. 1, he said.
