You're reading: Ukraine military say Russia deploys Iskander air defense missiles in Crimea

A representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff has said that Russia deployed Iskander air defense missiles in Crimea.

“The fact that the Russian Federation is armed with Iskander air defense missiles is real. An Iskander battalion has come to Crimea,” Maj. Gen. Oleksandr Rozmaznin said.

He noted that tactical Iskander systems operated on the radius of up to 500 kilometers.

“Undeniably, this is very bad because these missiles can carry nuclear warheads,” Rozmaznin said.

The news of Iskander missiles’ deployment in Crimea is “a reason to think [about] how to counteract these systems,” he added.
