You're reading: Ukraine National Guard now controlling Komsomolske in Donetsk region

A brigade of Ukraine's National Guard has taken the town of Komsomolske in the Starobesheve district of the Donetsk region under their control, the National Guard said in a press release on Friday morning, Aug. 29.

“Three servicemen were injured as a result of the armed clash. They have already received medical aid,” it said.

The brigade has also reinforced the defenses of the town of Mariupol in the Donetsk region it said.

Interfax has so far been unable to obtain confirmation of the report from other sources.

The town of Komsomolske, which had a population of 11,900 people at the beginning of 8.11 p.m., lies approximately 20 kilometers from the border with Russia and eight kilometers east of Starobesheve, which is currently under the control of militants’ forces.
