Ukraine is opposed to the policy of the international isolation of Belarus, Presidential Advisor and Head of the Main International Relations Department of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Honcharuk has said.

The press service of the president of Ukraine reported on July 3 that during a TV linkup between Kyiv, Warsaw and Moscow organized by the Polish Public Television News Channel (TVP INFO), Honcharuk said that Kyiv is closely monitoring the situation in Belarus.

When asked about the consequences for European countries of the worsening economic situation in Belarus, the presidential advisor said Kyiv wants to see economic stability in Belarus, as the country is an important trade partner of Ukraine.

While commenting on the criminal cases against opposition leaders in Ukraine, Honcharuk said that these cases have no political motivation.

"The position of the Ukrainian government concerning the fight against corruption is clear and is one of principal: High officials that violate Ukrainian legislation have to be held to account, regardless of their political leanings," the presidential advisor said.
