Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered his government to prevent hotels from charging exorbitant prices for fans attending this summer's European football championships.

Some Ukrainian hotels are charging as much as 10 times their usual rates for rooms during the June 8-July 1 tournament that the country is co-hosting with Poland.

Yanukovych on Friday ordered his infrastructure and economy ministers to see to it that hotel prices are brought to an "economically grounded" level. But he did not specify how the order will be enforced.

UEFA officials have said that curbing hotel prices remains the biggest obstacle in organizing the event.
