The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed bill "On ratification of the agreement on extradition of offenders between Ukraine and Senegal."

The bill was supported by 256 MPs with 226 votes required for it to pass.

The agreement will create the legal basis for cooperation by government agencies to extradite criminals between the two countries, according to the explanatory note to the draft law.

The ratification of the agreement creates the legal basis for cooperation by the competitive agencies of the contracting parties aiming at prosecuting or executing verdicts against individuals who try to avoid responsibility for their crimes, and who are located in one of the contracted countries.

The agreement was signed on June 17, 2013 in Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

The agreement will also establish effective cooperation between courts and other judicial agencies of Ukraine and Senegal in providing joint legal assistance in civil cases, criminal investigations, and confiscations, and will also identify mechanisms for mutual recognition and executions of rulings of courts in civil cases.
