Ukraine on Nov. 13 stopped importing electricity from Russia, the press service of national energy company Ukrenergo has told Interfax-Ukraine.
“From 2 a.m. on Friday we stopped [importing electricity],” the press service said.
As reported, on Nov. 1 Ukraine resumed imports of electricity from Russia.
Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said that Ukraine will stop importing electricity from Russia this week.
In late December 2014, Ukrinterenergo and Inter RAO signed the contract to export electricity from Russia to Ukrainian power grid.
Ukrenergo operates Ukraine’s backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country’s national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
