SIMFEROPOL - Crimea will not experience significant problems with electricity supplies even if Ukraine cuts these off completely, said Sergei Aksionov, the leader of the republic.

“Ukraine already supplies only half of the stated capacity – just 400 megawatts are given on entry to Crimea, we supply the rest from our reserve capacity, and the Crimeans have not noticed yet any tangible disruption in electricity supplies,” Aksionov told reporters in Simferopol on Dec. 2.

He was commenting on the statement by Ukraine’s Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan that Crimea could be fully cut off from electricity supplies should it exceed its consumption limits.
