You're reading: Ukraine to finish construction of new shelter at Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 2015

During the 45th JAIF (Japan Atomic Industrial Forum) Annual Conference in Tokyo, Ukrainian Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha said that in 2015 Ukraine will finish the construction of a new safe confinement over the fourth unit of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

Baloha also stressed that due to international support Ukraine will fulfill its obligation to construct a new safe confinement to cover the fourth unit at the Chornobyl NPP in 2015, the press service of the ministry reported on April 18 in the morning.

The minister also thanked the international community, and especially Japan, for scientific, technical, financial, and humanitarian assistance during the cleanup operations at the Chornobyl NPP.

In 1991-1996 Japan granted funding for a big program aimed at medical examination of children.
