You're reading: Ukraine’s agriculture ministry pays subsidies for breading of cattle to farmers

The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has allocated around Hr 1.05 million to pay budget subsidies for breeding young cattle stock to farmers, reads a report of the ministry's press service issued on June 18, 2012.

The report says that at present, over 1,500 households mainly from
Volyn, Lviv, Kherson, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk and Rivne regions
submitted applications for subsidies.

The press service said that this year the state plans to allocate
around Hr 1 billion to pay subsidies to farmers for breeding young
cattle stock.

The press service said that the financial aid aims at preventing the slaughter of cattle and increasing herd numbers.

As reported, earlier the government decided to pay budget subsidies
to individuals of Hr 250 per animal from three to five months, Hr 500
per animal from six to eight months, and Hr 750 per animal from nine to
eleven months.

Farmers are to submit copies of passports and IDs, a copy of
livestock certificates and the number of their accounts in banks to
rural, town and district councils if they want to obtain subsidies.
