The Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry is considering the expediency of electricity imports from Russia, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said in Kyiv on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

“We’re considering this option, the expediency of such an option… And if the NSDC [National Security and Defense Council] instructs us, we’re obliged to follow its instructions,” he said.

Before the NSDC issued its instructions, talks about the import of electricity from Russia to Ukraine had been conducted by private companies, and state-run Ukrinterenergo may now join them, he said.
