You're reading: Ukrainian army lost over 1,800 troops in Russia’s war against Ukraine in Donbas

A total of 1,842 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been killed and 8,519 have been wounded since the beginning of the military operation in Donbas, Lieutenant-General Igor Voronchenko, the head of the main personnel management department of the General Staff, said.

“The casualties of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the entire period of the anti-terrorist operation, including the annexation of Crimea, now stand at 1,842 servicemen, 831 non-combat. A total of 8,519 servicemen have been wounded,” Voronchenko told a briefing in Kyiv on Nov. 20.

Voronchenko said 129,700 are entitled to combat action participant status and 96,937 servicemen have received such status.

“Work in this direction is done daily and commissions meet every week to discuss the issue of granting combat action participant status to people,” Voronchenko said.
