You're reading: Ukrainian authorities report attacks near Luhansk

The town of Schastia, Luhansk Oblast of Ukraine, came under fire several times in the past 24 hours, Hennadiy Moskal, the head of the Luhansk region's military and civilian administration, said.

Moskal says the shots were fired from the side of the village of Vesela Hora, which is controlled by the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic.

Moskal said surface-to-air missile systems, automatic grenade launchers and guns had been used in the attacks. “Fortunately, no civilians were hurt. There is no information on any wounded or killed fighters either. It’s quiet in the city this morning,” Moskal’s press service quoted him as saying.

According to Moskal, shootouts took place on the outskirts of the village of Krymske near the tuberculosis clinic. The village of Troitske came under fire from mortars and firearms several times last night.

The ceasefire was observed in the other traditionally “hot areas” of the Luhansk Oblast, Moskal said.
