You're reading: Ukrainian health minister demands that health of drivers departing for long trips be strictly checked

Ukrainian Vice Premier and Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova said that the bus crash in Chernihiv region, in which Russian pilgrims were killed and injured, should be a lesson to everyone.

According to the government’s press service, at a meeting with
Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov on July10, Bohatyriova said that state
of health of drivers that make long trips must be thoroughly checked.

The minister added that the number of night coach services should be
limited, the time of driving should not exceed 12 hours, and drivers of
coaches should have assistants during trips at any time of day.

According to Bohatyriova, passengers have to be insured. The minister
added that vehicles that transport many passengers should be equipped
with trip recorders.

“All of these steps should achieve results, if traffic rules are observed,” Bohatyriova said.
