The Ukrainian military have assumed control over the village of Yampil in the Donetsk region, Volodymyr Chepovy, spokesman of the information center of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), said.

“Units of the Armed Forces and the Ukrainian National Guard have now freed from terrorists Yampil and Kirovsk, near Krasny Lyman, Donetsk region. The bridge over the Siversky Donets River has been taken under control,” Chepovoi said.

Chepovy said that “the town of Sloviansk is practically blocked by Ukrainian troops.”

“Twelve Ukrainian troops and one member of the National Guard were killed in this operation,” Chepovy said.

Three hundred members of armed groups were killed, combat reconnaissance patrol vehicles, a KAMAZ vehicle with weapons installed on them, several surface-to-air missile systems, and a large amount of firearms were seized in the fighting in the areas of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions in the past 24 hours, he said.

Chepovy also said almost the entire self-defense battalion Zarya was destroyed in the fighting near the village of Metalist, Luhansk region.

Ukrainian troops continue creating a circle around populated areas and areas where their enemies are deployed, Chepovy said. Special attention is given to the populated area of Zakotne, Luhansk region, through which weapons and ammunition were supplied until recently.
