The number of shell attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian government forces in the country's east has increased over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Border Guard Service said on its official site on June 30.

The Ukrainian military positions were shelled six times, it said.

In particular, the Zolote checkpoint was attacked three times: from a small-arms weapon, a GP-25 grenade launcher and machineguns, the agency said. “Ukrainian border guards and armed forces fired back and forced the enemy to retreat,” the statement reads.

The Mayorske checkpoint was attacked twice from mortar launchers and small-arms weapons. Small arms were also fired against the Mariynka checkpoint where Ukrainian border guards and members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are deployed.

“No one has been injured,” the State Border Guard Service said.
