Ukrainian representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kuchma discussed with U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission in Ukraine Bruce Donahue and Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Alexander Hug the process of implementing the Minsk accords, particularly the results of the group's latest meeting on Sept. 8.
“During the meeting the implementation of the Minsk accords was discussed. In particular, the sides discussed the results of the latest meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, generally noted the observance of the ceasefire regime and the need to sign a document on the pullback of weapons under 100mm [in caliber],” Leonid Kuchma’s ‘Ukraina’ Presidential Foundation said in a statement posted on its website on Sept. 10.
Participants in the meeting noted the need to cancel ‘fake elections’ planned for Oct. 18 and Nov. 1 in several districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, noting that elections in the whole territory of Donbas should be held according to Ukrainian legislation as this is stipulated by the Minsk accords.
The sides separately noted the need to release all refugees from captivity and noted the importance of setting up and enlarging humanitarian logistical centers.
“The importance of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the ‘Normandy Quartet’ planned for September 12 was noted,” it said.
