You're reading: Lifestyle Blog: Ukrainian Zlata Ognevich to strive for victory at Eurovision

In a particularly tough competition this year, to win the international song contest Eurovision, 26-year-old Ukrainian Zlata Ognevich has to sidestep rivals from 25 countries. The finals are set to take place in Swedish city of Mamlo on May 18.

Ognevich is expected to dazzle with a fabulous show featuring her song Gravity, which has already been highly praised by the jury in the qualifying rounds. Her show was staged by famous Ukrainian producer Maksym Lytvynov, best known for his work on TV projects X-Factor and Dances With the Stars, which have been a smashing success.

Bookies give Ognevich high chances for taking the crown. The latest predictions say she can win second place. According to the rules, the winner is decided jury and SMS voting, with equal weights. Viewers in 39 countries will have the chance to vote for any performer except for their national representative.

In Ukraine the show will be broadcast by First National TV channel at 10 p.m. Ognevich is set to perform 22nd.
