Ukrtelecom has gained the status of a national sponsor of the UEFA Euro 2012 European Football Championship, a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine has reported.

UEFA Events CEO David Taylor and Ukrtelecom Board Chairman Heorhiy Dzekon signed a relevant agreement on Monday.

According to an Ukrtelecom press release, the operator is intending as part of the project to provide telecommunications services to more than 20 UEFA Euro 2012 objects, which include the main office of the local Euro 2012 organization committee in Ukraine, hotels in Kyiv, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Lviv, as well as stadiums, airports, train stations and press centers in the cities hosting the championship.

In addition, the company intends to broadcast video and audio from stadiums, and build an international corporate network for UEFA for data exchange, IP telephony and video conferencing.

Two independent channels with a total capacity of 100 Gbps for each object will be built at each stadium to transfer audio and video signals.
